Disgraceful!!
This video is an absolute disgrace. The anger that has engulfed so many of our youth is constantly displayed for all to see. Why are so many men standing around? Why do the girls push the senior woman?? Why does the older lady even have to get involved in the first place when there are so many young men around? I don't know what the reason for this display of ignorance is but I do know that they had no right to do this to that girl.
I hope justice is served to the girls that were so violent and for the camera guy who you could hear repeating the words "The police are on their way you better get out of here" even as the beaten down girl was having a seizure.

Da Brat Got A MJ Tat
Since shes been released from prison Da Brat's been a little busy in the studio as well as at the tattoo shop. Jermaine Dupri tweeted this pic showing her fresh ink.
The tattoo artist did an awesome job with the details but I don't know how I feel about this. Am I the only one who thinks this is a bit overboard??

Real Talent Is Making Comeback
For those of you who don't know, this is Marsha Ambrosius formerly of the popular duo "Floetry". Marsha is definitely doing her thing with her new banging single "Far Away" from her new album "Late Nights and Early Mornings". This album gives us some real music again, thank goodness because I thought musical talent had died in Nicki Minaj's latest wig.
She looks great here, we see you Marsha! For those of you who live under rocks and have no idea what song I'm referring to, just watch the video.
3 Kids Injured In Texas
This story truly breaks my heart. Three kindergartners were injured after a child brought a loaded gun to school. according to this news report by Austin News KXAN. Apparently the weapon fell from the child's pocket and discharged a bullet creating fragments that injured the kids including the child that brought the gun to school. So many questions, so little answers.
Have parents totally stopped parenting???

Is It Just My Imagination or Are Alot Of Black Men Losing It???
Does there seem to be alot of angry black men out here now days or is it just me? Whats up with all the anger and hatred directed towards black women today? I am really perplexed as to why I have encountered so many broken men who take their limited experience with women and turn against a whole race of women. Just visit some youtube videos on relationships and black women and you'll see what I'm talking about. I hope this isnt a growing trend and I am glad that I know for a fact not all black men project this hatred but there sure seems to be alot. SMH, as if black women dont have it hard enough. I saw a video on youtube that disgusted me but i am seeing this attitude more and more. Dont watch the video if your very sensitive to ignorance.
Who the hell is this and what the hell is wrong with these fools??

Your Natural Styles; Twist Outs
Twist outs are a definite style favorite for many naturals for numerous reasons. They are easy to do and pretty easy to maintain. When styling the hair your twist can be as big or as small as you desire. Twist are usually done on damp hair, for best results a leave in conditioner, gel and oil are used when creating this gorgeous style. After washing or wetting the hair section it off in 4 to 6 sections. Take your time and work section by section twisting the hair into two strand twist at whatever size you want. Once the whole head is complete you may sit under a dryer to dry the hair faster or allow it to air dry.
Most naturals wear their two strand twist for a few days prior to unraveling them but when you are ready to wear your twist out style, separate the twist using a dab of oil on the finger tips so as not to create fuzzy hair. Unravel the twist 1 -2 times a piece in order to create a chunkier look. At night simply re twist your hair, tie with a silk scarf and repeat in the morning. Throw a flower or head band in your hair, beat your face, throw on your fav accessories and stay fierce. Enjoy your beautiful natural style ladies!
Lets Discuss Black Entrepreneurship; What Are You Waiting For?
Black Owned!
Black entrepreneurship begin with the onset of Emancipation. The lack of sufficient employment due to the racist practices and laws put in place during and after the ending of slavery black unemployment was extremely high. Whites encouraged each other and business owner in refusing the hiring of blacks in many areas outside of domesticated workers and dangerous industrial fields. Exclusionary practices made it difficult for blacks to gain employment and subsequently KEEP employment. In response to the hatred, violence and scarce employment opportunities, blacks began forming and building their own businesses. Black business ownership rates increased more than 100% between 1900 and WWI.
In today's world blacks are fairing far better than our ancestors but much work is still needed to create a fair playing field with equal opportunities. The unemployment rate for the nation is at about 9% with unemployment in the black community lingering about 15.6%. Now is the time to begin strategizing on how you can become a black entrepreneur. Blacks can no longer afford to wait around hoping for employment, we must continue to create our own employment opportunities. If former slaves could successfully build and create businesses despite not having the access to education, grants and trade schools how much more could we again become the owners of our own dollars. Black entrepreneurship is said to have increased by about 60% between 2002 and 2005. My question to you is what are YOU waiting for?

Black Women, Just Lower Your Standards Geez
Here is a video that I did on youtube a while ago concerning black women and our standards. Alot of men disagree with what was said in this video, but on the flip side a lot of women understood. Whats your thoughts on the issue? Are black women living in a fantasy world when it comes to dating and expectations in a mate?
Fierce Is An Understatement: Model Watch
Strolling through some of my fav beauty and gossip sites I kept running across pics of a young lady whose presence will be felt in 2011. The stunning daughter of LisaRaye is breaking out on the scene this year as Apple Bottom's plus size model and from the looks of it we'll be seeing alot more. Kai Morae is ready to show the fashion world that you don't have to be a size 0 in order to be fierce. We hope to see more of this plus sized beauty in the upcoming months.
So Your Going To Straighten?
For those of you who don't know I have a love hate relationship with my CHI. This little flat iron can give silky results and reek havoc at the same time on an unsuspecting head. Theres no question about the high performance of this flatiron. It is ranked among my top 5 favorite heat tools as a matter of fact. But for all the great benefits of the CHI if precaution isn't used your hair will suffer the consequences of heat damaged hair. So what can you do to avoid the heat damage monster?
- Use heat sparingly. Theres no reason to run a flat iron through your tresses daily, doing this will surely leave you on the wrong end of a Dr. Miracles commercial.
- Always Always Always use a heat protectant. This product is meant to be used on the hair prior to any heat styling, it is designed to coat each strand in a protective layer in order to reduce the amount of heat your hair is exposed to. CHI has a great protectant.
- Deep condition is a must. This goes without saying, keeping your hair moisturized and perfectly ph balanced is one of the most important factors to retaining healthy hair with or without heat. Find a Moisturizing conditioner to ensure the moisture is replaced, heat tends to dry the hair.
- One pass per section. Instead of running that flat iron over your hair two, three, four or eight times, learn how to use smaller sections and perfect getting great results with a single pass over each section. Your hair will thank you for this.
Those are just a few steps that can be taken when using a CHI or similar heat tools on natural or relaxed hair. Ultimately if you don't want to run the risk of an altered curl pattern than my suggestion to you is to stay away from direct heat. If you haven't read my heat damage post go here to understand what heat damage is and how it can affect your hair. Learning how to use heat correctly can save you from commiting to another BC.
Jojoba Oil: The Ultimate Hair Oil
No matter how you wear your hair Jojoba (pronounced ho-HO-ba) should be a definite staple in your hair care regimen. This oil, although pricey is worth every penny. It is found in many hair products but for the best results NKN'Cs recommends that you buy the oil by itself. This high performing oil has such a high reputation because its qualities mirror that of our natural oils. The human body produces oil that is known as sebum. Sebum is made by our sebaceous glands, lubricating skin and hair. Here are some great benefits to jojoba oil:
- It is one of the purest oils and does wonders for hair and skin
- It absorbs well, unlike some oils that tend to sit on the hair and skin
- Its one of the most stable oils available
- It can be used as a makeup remover
- Perfect for a hot oil treatment or when added to a conditioner
Next time your at the local health food store be sure to do your hair and skin a favor by picking up this super oil.

I've found this wonderful eyeliner at such a convenient price in one of my favorite places; Target. Maybelline's Eyestudio Gel Liner is a consumer friendly product with high fashion performance. The best part of this awesome discovery is that I want you to have a chance to use this product as well. Baby got to much back?
We know how men love big butts, Sir Mix-A-Lot made this song about his love of the derriere. Men have sang about it, talked about it and expressed their love for a big rear for years now. The big butt phenomenon has been exploding (no pun intended) for the last couple of years. America was obsessed with J Lo's years ago in her P Diddy days. We have all seen pics of Nicki Minaj, Lil Kim, Kim K and other famous women who are praised for their curvy shapes. Thanks to Global Grind and Latest Beauty I was able to find pics of two ladies famous for their butt injections beauty.
This trend seems to have taken a dangerous turn for young women who desire to have the same *ahem* attributes that celebs have. After reading this story on Sandra Rose about a beautician in the Bronx who was arrested for illegally injecting women with silicone and hydrogel I was left in shock that women were so desperate to gain these ridiculously large asses that they were willing to go into someones home, lay on the kitchen table and after receiving their deadly injections, allowed their wounds to be sealed with crazy glue. What is even remotely attractive about the cartoon butts paraded on television and in videos? Maybe I'm just not hip to the hype.

Want to try a new style but scared of the results?
While browsing beauty magazines I came across this awesome feature on Essence Online. Try this cool tool offered at Essence Online Magazine. It allows you to try different looks with hair, makeup , weight loss and more. Essence Magic Makeover is a fun tool that you can use to preview how a look would fit your face before you make the commitment. Next time you consider following a trend (think Cassie or Amber Rose) try this out to get a idea of what direction you'll be heading. The results are laughable but useful non the less. It takes just seconds to register for an account in order to use the software. I don't think I'll be trying this style from Mary J any time soon!
The Misconceptions of Natural Hair
There seems to be a misconception about ladies who wear their natural hair. Men and women tend to automatically associated you with India Arie , Lauryn Hill or Jill Scott, three fly women, whose style consist of earthy tones a vibrant blend of Afrocentrism and Bohemian with a dash of soul. They are very much conscious of their womanism as well as their blackness. These women represent strength and africanism that is linked to any woman whose style may slightly resemble theirs. Here are a few myths assumed with natural hair:
Myth 1: Women who proudly display their natural hair are not materialistic
Fact: Women who display natural hair may or may not be as materialistic as other women, materialism is not synonymous with natural kinks. We like diamonds and pearls as much as the next.
Myth 2: Women who wear natural hair are angry and militant
Fact: Women with afros, kinks and curls are not angry and militant, we may just not like you
Myth 3: Natural sistahs are very black conscious and more in touch with their ancestral roots
Fact: Unless that individual woman has taken the time to learn about her heritage I would take an educated guess and say that she may not know as much as is perceived. You'll only know by having a conversation with her.
